Serve, learn, and lead in the Metro Atlanta area! Since 1988, we have permanently housed more than 400 people and made repairs on over 100 senior or veteran residents in our service area. Join us as we serve even more families in need through building homes, communities and hope. Habitat for Humanity-DeKalb has been hosting AmeriCorps members for over 5 years now and we couldn't do the work that we do without members.
Our members will have hands on experience working with a non-profit. They will play a vital role in helping us achieve our mission of building homes, communities, and hope. Members will work with our staff, volunteers, and stakeholders, helping HFHD to build our capacity and build our impact within the community. AmeriCorps member will have direct insight to our affiliate and gain experience with public speaking, project management, group facilitation, and other skills. Volunteer Services Coordinator
As a Volunteer Services Coordinator, you will be on the front lines of service by helping the volunteers at our affiliate. Your primary responsibility will be to coordinate volunteer management efforts, including but not limited to: assisting with on-site orientations, maintaining and updating the volunteer database, maintaining communications with volunteers though a monthly eNewsletter, recruiting and scheduling volunteers, continually working on volunteer retention and recognition, or other new initiatives at our affiliate. Additionally, you will assist in the coordination of volunteer groups, such as campus chapters and non-construction youth groups. On occasion, you may attend community outreach programs to promote volunteer opportunities, and manage affiliate presence at volunteer fairs. Volunteers are a huge help in the weekly operation of our site, and we need someone like you to be the helping hand and voice to our volunteers.
Required Qualifications:
18 years of age or older
U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
High school diploma or GED equivalent (or agree to work towards one while serving)
Driver's license
Personal vehicle
Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word/Excel)
Helpful Qualifications:
Experience working with volunteers or teaching/group facilitation experience
Ability to work with a diverse group of people
Detail oriented and highly organized
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Project management experience
Public speaking experience
Strong research skills

What's in it for you?
At the end of the service year, you will recruit and/or manage 500 volunteers in the building, rehabilitation, or repair of homes. Your effort will help us recruit 10 new volunteer groups and complete 15 new builds/rehabs, in direct service of 16 individuals, including seven (7) whom are veterans, active military, or their families. You will also participate in several community outreach events and Neighborhood Revitalization projects. Additionally, you will gain enhanced skills in communication, leadership, delegation, team-building time & project management, construction and safety.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
