Operational Communication Fiber Designer

Performs fiber design functions requiring competencies in project planning, building, and maintaining the GTC/Family of Companies fiber optic infrastructure.
Independently develops, designs, evaluates, selects, and/or applies guidelines, procedures, and fiber design techniques and standards in an economically efficient and sound fiber designing manner.
Maintains and updates documentation for fiber optic networks, including inside and outside plants.
This position requires a strong understanding of fiber optic infrastructure construction, maintenance, and spatial planning.
Skilled at creating and documenting splice plans for construction projects and updating Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Collaborates with cross-functional teams including FOC and GSOC Network Engineering to create detailed designs, ensure optimal network performance, and contribute to the successful implementation of fiber optic projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
Master's Degree in GIS (preferred).
Experience:
Five (5) years of network design/GIS experience including experience working with fiber optic plants.
Previous utility experience preferred.
Previous experience in GIS, AutoCAD, or other design work preferred.
Certifications:
UTC Level 1 & 2 - Fiber Optic Designer Certification or equivalent (strongly preferred).
Specialized Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization, and time management skills, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by the work.
Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
